Summer Reading 2020: Reimagined!

The Basics

Our summer program will run from June 9 to July 17. You can sign up your child and pick up summer reading logs from June 2 through 12. Please call ahead to sign up your child and let us know what age group of reading logs you will need!

Reading Logs

This year, our program participants will try to read a specific number of minutes each day for 20 days. The days do not need to be consecutive, but they do need to fall between June 9 and July 17. The number of daily minutes is determined by age group. Our reading logs are broken into three age groups:

Little Readers (ages 0-6) will either read or be read to for at least 10 minutes each day.

Kids (ages 7-12) will read at least 20 minutes each day.

Teens (ages 13-17) will read at least 30 minutes each day.

All age groups will receive a prize for their first completed reading log! Reading logs for all ages must be signed off by a parent or guardian and returned to the library in-person to be eligible for a prize. Reading logs must be returned before July 31 in order to receive a prize.

If your child completes a reading log before July 17, we have another reading challenge that asks them to read different genres of books. They can also get another minutes reading log. Any additional logs are eligible for extra prizes!

Storytimes

We’ll be posting a storytime video onto our Facebook page each Thursday for the duration of the program. We’ll have different story readers, so keep an eye out for someone you may know! You can find our Facebook page here.

Activities
Each week, we will have new take-home activity packs that you can come pick up. There are different activities for each age group and family activity packs, so please call ahead to let us know which one you would like! You do not need to be signed up for the reading programs to pick up activity packs.
